Dr. Robert Dewey Courtyard of Learning, Tecumseh Elementary School
DeWitt, NY
This project was developed on a voluntary basis in both design and implementation phases, and was funded through donations from the faculty, parents and local businesses. The once neglected space was transformed into an outdoor classroom offering a quiet spot for reading or nature exploration activities using a sundial, a weather corner as well as planting beds for experiments with annuals and a variety of native plant material. This courtyard is dedicated to Tecumseh’s first principal, Dr. Dewey.
